UNITED WAY OF GREATER CHATTANOOGA RECOGNIZED AS A LEADER IN PLANNED GIVING

Chattanooga, TN (September 2007) – United Way of Greater Chattanooga announces that it has been granted special recognition as a Founder of the United Way of America Dynamic Collaborative.

Eva Dillard, President and CEO, and Brent Taylor, Director of Planned Giving and Endowment Development, completed an exclusive executive workshop jointly offered by United Way of America and the National Charitable Initiative.  This first-of-its-kind workshop was founded by 17 United Ways, from across the United States, that participated by special invitation.  The goal of the United Way Dynamic Collaborative is to expand the possibilities and opportunities for planned giving.

The workshop covered highly specialized relationship-building techniques, as well as important and effective ways for individuals and their families to make significant planned gifts to charity.  It was taught by two of the leading estate planning attorneys in the country, Robert A. Esperti and Renno L. Peterson.

United Way of Greater Chattanooga will incorporate techniques from the workshop into a long-term program that promotes planned giving and builds closer relationships with United Way contributors and other members of the community.

“We are pleased to be a part of this founding group out of all United Ways,” said Mr. Taylor, who is also the current President of the Chattanooga Area Planned Giving Council. “The materials we are developing come from the best practices nationwide. This will help us do a better job of working with our supporters and helping them to make a lasting impact through a planned gift.”

United Way of Greater Chattanooga focuses on the critical issues of preventing problems before they occur and creating opportunities for people to care for themselves and each other, making our community the best at helping people achieve their potential.
