RFP DUE DATE IS JULY 18 for VOLUNTEER CENTER’S 22nd ANNUAL DAY OF CARING
This is your last chance to submit a project proposal for the United Way Volunteer Center’s 22nd Annual Day of Caring. More than 30 organizations took advantage of this event last year, but the Volunteer Center wants even more nonprofit agencies to participate this year.
On Thursday, September 8, hundreds of volunteers from local businesses and communities will partner with United Way’s Volunteer Center and other area nonprofit organizations to serve our local neighborhoods through work on community-based projects.
But the Volunteer Center needs your help to find unique and meaningful volunteer projects where willing volunteers can serve and make the most impact in one day.
Your nonprofit (501c3) organization is invited to submit your project needs to United Way’s Volunteer Center. More than one project proposal can be submitted (and may be accepted) but each request must be submitted separately.
The deadline for submission is Monday, July 18, but you may call the Center to ask for a deadline extension. All project proposal information and forms can be found online at www.LiveUnitedChattanooga.org or by calling 423-752-0316.
Last year, more than 400 volunteers worked on more than 30 different projects ranging from improvement projects at area nonprofits to installing playgrounds at low-income day care centers or rebuilding public park spaces.
Agencies with selected projects must agree to a few ground rules:
- Your agency must provide proper tools & materials for projects – these can be borrowed from United Way’s Tool Barn if you qualify
- The project should be able to be completed in one day
- The project must have an agency representative assigned to supervise and work with volunteers
- The project must not involve hazardous materials
- The project should benefit the community as a whole
- Your agency agrees to provide lunch, drinks and snacks for the volunteers.
The Volunteer Center draws its volunteers from area corporations and organizations that submit teams to work on the projects of their choice, but individual volunteers are also recruited for these activities. You can volunteer yourself, your coworkers or your fellow church members by calling United Way’s Volunteer Center at 423-752-0316.
