Register for a Free Financial Literacy Workshop to Help Your Clients at Tax Time
Save money at tax time thanks to a free financial literacy workshop sponsored by United Way of Greater Chattanooga on Wednesday, January 11 at 11 a.m. This workshop is open to all nonprofit organizations, from social service providers and government agencies to churches and hospitals that work with financially stressed populations.
Not only is this workshop free, but lunch will be provided at no charge to the first fifty people who register.
This workshop is funded by a grant from the FINRA (Financial Industry Regulatory Authority) Investor Education Foundation, through a partnership with United Way Worldwide and a collaboration with the new Chattanooga CASH Coalition: United Way of Greater Chattanooga; UT Extension Services; Consumer Credit Counseling Services, a department of Partnership for Families, Children and Adults; United Way’s Center for Nonprofits; United Way’s 2-1-1 Resource Referral Call Center; and the Chattanooga Chapter of Tennessee Saves.
Financial Literacy is a topic that many are talking about and it’s emerging as an important piece in working towards individual and family stability. This workshop is being provided because Chattanooga area tax payers leave thousands of dollars on the table every year by not utilizing tax credits for low and moderate income families. Learn where your nonprofit’s clients can get their taxes prepared for free and discover other resources to which you can refer your clients during tax season.
The FINRA financial literacy workshop will be led by Linda Rath, Director of Partnership’s Consumer Credit Counseling Service, and June Puett, UT Extension agent with University of Tennessee Extension Services in Hamilton County. It will be hosted in the Chattanooga Urban League offices at 730 E. Martin Luther King Boulevard on Wednesday, January 11, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Free parking is available behind the Urban League building. Metered parking is available on the street.
Registration is required by Monday, January 9. Call the Center for Nonprofits at423-752-0329 to register or go online at www.cnpchatt.org. Remember, registration is free to all workshop participants and lunch is free to the first 50 people who register.
United Way of Greater Chattanooga and the members of the CASH Coalition thank the Chattanooga Urban League for providing their location to host this free workshop.
