Start the New Year with a professional development workshop at United Way’s Center for Nonprofits (CNP). The CNP is hosting a wide range of ongoing workshops, created to strengthen and support local nonprofit organizations and their volunteers. With tutorials on how to promote your mission, an in-depth volunteer certification series and successful nonprofit leadership courses, CNP workshops can guide nonprofit staff, volunteers and board members at all levels of experience.
The Center for Nonprofits helps nonprofit organizations operate more efficiently and effectively in achieving their missions. It is a direct service of the United Way of Greater Chattanooga and it has more than 200 member organizations from cities and towns located throughout East Tennessee and North Georgia. Nonprofit staff, volunteers and board members alike benefit from the growing array of training workshops and resources available through the Center. All area 501c3 nonprofit organizations can receive services from the CNP.

Intro to Foundation Directory Thursday, January 17, 10 to 11a.m.
The CNP is a regional repository of the Foundation Center's online database of 92,000 grant makers and 1.3 million grant records. Learn how to access and use this database in your own grant research. Fees: Free! Registration Required.
Nonprofit Startup Friday, January 18, 10 to 11 a.m.
This session will focus on the steps you need to follow and the forms you need to file to become an exempt organization. Fees: Free! Registration Required.
Basics of Nonprofit Board Service Wednesday, January 23, 4 to 5:30 p.m.
This session is designed as an introduction for board members to the basics of board responsibilities and duties, as well as to the roles of staff and board. Fees: $20
Telling Your Story Thursday, January 24, 9 a.m. to 12 noon
Charitable organizations must share the story of their mission in resonant ways in order to connect with and to inspire donors to action. In this session - a follow up to the presentation at last year’s TVI Conference - you’ll learn the secrets to crafting great mission-based stories to share your case and to demonstrate your impact. You’ll find out key elements to include and deadly mistakes to avoid. You’ll also see examples of high-impact, low-budget ways to communicate with your community in powerful ways. Ultimately, you’ll take away specific strategies and fresh ideas to create vibrant communications that will enhance your charitable mission and deepen your connection with donors.
