United Way's Project Ready for School initiative helps children prepare for success in school and life by encouraging parents' involvement in their child's earliest learning experiences.

Through Project Ready for School partners, United Way provides the tools that parents need to prepare their children for future success. These include:

Imagination Library
Children ages birth to five years who are enrolled in Project Ready for School get a hardback Imagination Library book in the mail each month at no cost to their families. Enroll your child now!

Thanks to United Way's partnership with the Governor's Books from Birth Foundation, Dolly Parton's Imagination Library is now available to registered children Hamilton and Marion Counties in Tennessee. Children in Catoosa, Dade and Walker Counties in Georgia receive Imagination Library books through a partnership with the Ferst Foundation for Childhood Literacy.

Annual "Learning Checkups"
Learning checkups allow you to see how your baby's language, cognititve and motor skills are developing. This information can tell you if your child's critical learning skills are developing appropriately. Call United Way at 423-752-0333 for more information.

Parenting classes and expert guidance
By attending parenting classes and getting valuable guidance from professionals, you will learn how to encourage your baby's developmental skills and monitor his or her progressin the first and most critical years of life.
