CALLING ALL VOLUNTEERS! UNITED WAY’S VOLUNTEER CENTER NOW ACCEPTING NOMINATIONS FOR THE NATIONAL VOLUNTEER WEEK RECOGNITION AWARDS

United Way's Volunteer Center is accepting nominations for the annual Volunteer of the Year awards until Monday, April 21, 2008. The awards will be presented on Thursday, May 1, 2008, at the “Chattanooga VOLS” awards recognition banquet.

Every year, local companies committed to community service and nonprofit organizations from across the area join together to celebrate volunteerism and to honor local volunteers for their efforts. United Way's Volunteer Center, the Corporate Volunteer Council and Directors of Volunteers in Agencies (DOVIA) annually host the awards recognition banquet during National Volunteer Appreciation Week, April 27 to May 3, 2008. This year's recognition event will be held Thursday, May 1, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Brainerd Crossroads (4011 Austin Street).

To nominate an outstanding volunteer, complete a nomination form online at www.uwchatt.org or print it to mail in your submission. Return completed forms to the Volunteer Center at 630 Market Street Chattanooga, TN 37402 or fax to 423-267-8060.

One volunteer will be recognized from each of the following categories: Community, Education, Environment, Health and Youth. In addition to these awards, the Volunteer Center will recognize a local company committed to community involvement with the Corporate Volunteer of the Year Award. Companies may self-nominate.
