October Campaign Update
United Way of Greater Chattanooga has raised almost $4 million of its $11.9 million target goal to date during the 2008 Community Campaign. Of that amount, $330,690 has been contributed from the North Georgia area. Marion County campaigns will be kicking off soon. All undesignated dollars contributed from North Georgia and Marion County will stay in their respective areas and will be used to provide services for their residents. "It's great that we've reached this level of giving, especially since the need in our community is growing," said Dan Nausley, United Way Campaign Chairman and President of Sandler Training. "United Way's 2-1-1 call center has already taken more calls than were received by this time in 2007, which speaks to the number of people in our community needing a helping hand. It's important that those who are able to help try to do so a little more than they have in the past." So far this year, United Way has engaged 30 businesses and almost 900 first-time contributors who did not participate in last year’s campaign. Some highlights from this year’s campaign include:
United Way urges anyone who hasn’t been given an opportunity to contribute to the 2008 campaign to please consider making a donation now. Financial contributions can be made by calling 423-752-0300 or visit www.LiveUnitedChattanooga.org. There is also still plenty of time to organize an employee giving campaign. United Way of Greater Chattanooga funds local programs that create opportunities for people to care for themselves and each other, making our community the best at helping people achieve their potential. Thanks to an endowment fund that covers all overhead and administrative expenses, all contributions (100 percent) go directly to services that help individuals and families in the greater Chattanooga area, north Georgia and northeast Alabama. Call the United Way at 423-752-0300 for more information. |
