United Way's fresh approach to community improvement

Our Mission:

To unite people and resources in building a
stronger and healthier community.

For more than 80 years, United Way of Greater Chattanooga has been your partner in improving our community, helping individuals through a 'safety net' of services, always there to catch people if they stumble and help them get back on their feet.

We’re continuing that tradition in the most efficient, caring way possible. But with ever-expanding social needs, the 'safety net' stretches. We have to ask ourselves how can we better meet these needs and get an even better return on your United Way investment?

Our answer? Start at the beginning. Address the root causes of many of our most serious social problems, because preventing problems now will take pressure off of the 'safety net' later.

We believe children are the place to start. United Way’s Project Ready for School encourages parents to get involved with their children’s earliest learning experiences and help them develop the skills they need to start school ready to learn. We believe a child prepared to learn successfully now can be a successful citizen in the future.
