Join the Day of Caring
United Way’s Annual Day of Caring is about caring volunteers uniting to make an impact at our local human service agencies, schools and other nonprofits.
This year’s annual Day of Caring will be held Thursday, September 12, 2013.
Last year, on September 13, 2012, approximately 600 community volunteers across our region worked diligently to complete a total of 28 projects at 24 nonprofit agencies in roughly six to eight hours.
ACE Hardware's 2012 DOC project of the day was cleaning up and repairing vandalism damage at the Sheila Jennings Westside Family and Youth Development Center. Click here to see pictures showing how much fun all of our volunteers had making a hands-on impact!
ACE Hardware, the Day of Caring sponsor, donates a portion of their Labor Day weekend sales to United Way. The 2013 ACE Labor Day Sale will be held from Friday, August 30 through Monday, September 2 (Labor Day). A percentage of every dollar purchased by Helpful Hardware Club Card members is donated. This money helps participating Day of Caring organizations purchase needed supplies for their volunteer projects.
Approximately Twenty-nine area corporations gave their employees a day off from work the week of September 13, 2012, so their teams could participate in collective community action that builds lasting change in the Tennessee Valley.
