Nonprofit organizations and agencies are invited to submit applications for funding to receive part of this allocation. Go to the United Way web site, www.LiveUnitedChattanooga.org, for a copy of the application. Click on News and Events, then go to 2009 News Releases to find an EFSP news release and a link to the EFSP guidelines and application (in download links to the right).

Under the terms of the award, local agencies chosen to receive funds must:

1) be private, voluntary non-profits or units of local government;
2) be eligible to receive federal funds;
3) have an accounting system;
4) practice non-discrimination;
5) have demonstrated the capability to deliver emergency food and/or shelter programs; and
6) if they are a private voluntary organization, they must have a volunteer board of directors.

Local Board #7682 is responsible for recommending the distribution of these funds to agencies to help expand the capacity of food and shelter programs in high-need areas in Hamilton County. This responsibility includes:

1) advertising the availability of funds;
