Halloween Candy Buy-Back
KIDS CAN TRADE TREATS FOR DOLLARS AT AREA DENTIST’S OFFICE Halloween is fun, but do you hate having all those sweet, sticky, high-calorie candies laying around the house after the holiday? Well, there’s hope on the horizon for getting your kids to willingly give up their candy stash while teaching them a valuable lesson. Local Dentist Dr. Andrew Lunn is offering kids a sweet deal this week – cash for their Halloween candy. The Great Halloween Candy Buy-Back will take place at Dr. Lunn’s offices in the Corporate Image Complex at 1606 Gunbarrel Road, Suite 104, from Monday, November 2 to Thursday, November 5. Office hours are as follows: Monday 9 a.m. to noon and 1 to 6 p.m.; and 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 1:30 to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday. “This is a great activity to do in partnership with United Way,” said Dr. Lunn. “Not only is this a great way to teach children about sharing with others by sending the candy to our troops, but it also supports United Way’s Kid Fitness objectives by teaching children about good nutrition. Candy in moderation is OK as long as kids floss and brush their teeth twice a day, but excess sugar also contributes to childhood obesity and diabetes. We see this as a way to help parents get the sugar away from their kids, and then put the candy to good use by sending it overseas.
